Hamsters
Sharing a few of my favorite images of hamsters that were taken quite some time ago:
Product Photography
Skinny Pigs
It was my first opportunity to photograph guinea pigs for a client who is intending to market them for sale locally. These guinea pigs, or rather better known as ‘skinny pigs’ looked a little different from the regular ones we are used to seeing at pet shops — they are hairless, well mostly.
Opal (The Beagle)
Opal is a friendly four-year-old beagle, not just to people she meets but also with other dogs as well. As a vegetarian, Opal loves to play fetch. Featured here together with Opal is her owner, Angelia, who recently had a portrait session with her family; and not to mention along with the fun-loving beagle.
Pets Villa Need Your Help
Some weeks ago I featured a short article on Pets Villa (Animal Lovers League). Today, the non-profit organization need your help and generosity. Take a look at this video link and you’ll know why: Click Here
A Glimpse of Faith & Hope
Susana became the owner of her two lovely cats not too long ago, whom she affectionately named them ‘Faith’ and ‘Hope’. It was in late February last year when she found them in the grassy area at the reclaimed land near Temasek Secondary School. At that time, the newly born kittens’ eyes were still tightly shut. How quickly have they grown since.
“Faith (above) is faithful”, says Susana. He loves to be cuddled and has a hint of a tiger in him (has a snarl which is more bark than bite).
Hope (below) on the other hand, has a more independent streak in him and in more vocal; tends to meow a lot especially during chow time. And yes, he loves cuddling too.
Lickie & Marshmallow
Lickie and Marshmallow are the names of two tiny (dwarf campbell) hamsters. They are the pets of Joseph and Seow Ping, whom I had the wonderful pleasure of photographing their wedding day celebration back in 2007. Both of them love hamsters as they feel that the little animals are the perfect size for them to keep, not to mention they are also very cute.

Lickie (brown hamster), about 2 years old, was brought home from a pet shop. The reason for Lickie’s given name was when Joseph and Seow Ping met her for the first time at the pet shop, she was furiously licking a corner of the glass tank she was living in at that time — that was something unique and they have never witnessed this behavior amongst the other hamsters they have had. Even today, Lickie can still be seen licking pieces of furniture in her cage.
Marshmallow (white hamster), on the other hand, is only 3 months old. And she was adopted from the SPCA, and brought home only an hour before I arrived at Joseph and Seow Ping’s home for the photography session! According to Seow Ping: “Marshmallow was named for her soft, fluffly white fur color and her resemblance to the candy. She is very acrobatic, and is often seen doing the monkey bars in her cage.”
Contrary to some misconception that hamsters are dirty, Seow Ping also shared that hamsters are fastidious about hygiene, who will groom and bathe themselves (in the sand bath) regularly. And despite them being small in size, their personalities are discernible. Joseph and Seow Ping currently have a total of 4 hamsters at home. They have different personalities — some are super active, some are mellow, some are aggressive. What they have in common is that they are all adorable!
